Less is more

Scanning internet listings of homes for sale is an extremely interesting experience.  It is interesting as each house is presented differently.

As a professional home stylist I know that one of the key elements buyers are searching for is space!  Space is key reason why people move - they need more space.  

As a seller, it is important that you present your home so that it feels spacious.   How do you do this, you ask?   The first thing to do is to remove any excess furniture or items  Using only essential furniture makes the house feel open and larger.

Removing clutter and depersonalizing is the next most important task,  you need to get buyer to look at your home and not everything that you have in it. Buyers need to have a sense of calm when viewing a property, if a property is cluttered with items and furniture buyers will be distracted by everything that is going on and not really look at your home.

This space certainly wouldn't create a good first impression.......

This is a tiny bedroom with way too much furniture and children's items.     Too make the space larger, excess items were removed and items rearranged resulting in a room that felt more spacious.

Remember!!

Depersonalise  - Take down family photos, children’s artwork, cherished collections, and the like to allow potential buyers to envision this as their home, not yours.
Declutter  - Ruthlessly prune the contents of your closets and the furniture in all rooms, taking care to leave a clear path for good flow of traffic.
